Raised in Maryville, Tennessee, only a “stones throw” from several great fisheries along the Tennessee River system, Russell Woods has spent nearly his whole life on the water.
His love of smallmouth bass fishing began early in life while fishing the gin-clear waters of Tellico Lake. From the first time he felt a big brown bass surging under the boat, he was hooked for life.
Whether wading in the shallow shoals of a Blounty County stream or running the rapids of the French Broad River, Russell is at home when fishing for smallmouth bass.
To him, there is nothing more rewarding than watching a chunky three pound smallie explode on a topwater bait and then admiring its brute strength and leaping ability.
These fish are a true Tennessee trophy treasured by all who pursue them and to Russel there is nothing more rewarding than sharing that treasure with others who respect the wonders of the outdoors.
