A native Tennesseean, Rickey grew up in Southern Middle TN in the small town of Fayetteville. Cutting his teeth on the local streams and private lakes this area of the country is blessed with, fishing became the outdoor activity of choice for him.
Chasing bass, bluegill, redeye and catfish was the primary motivation in life. Those early years of wading creeks and learning how to navigate the local rivers brought Rickey in contact with his first trout fishing opportunities.

Beginning as a bait fisherman, corn and worms were the technique that bagged the first trout with countless weekends spent pulling rainbows from the deep pools of the Elk. The Elk River tail water just below Tim’s Ford Dam holds good numbers of rainbow and brown trout still to this day thanks to the efforts of the TWRA stocking program.
Today Rickey has graduated to the Caney Fork River, one of Tennessee’s premier trout fisheries, and traded the corn and worm in for something with a little more bite…hardware jerkbaits on spinning tackle, targeting razorback browns with aggressive “blitzkrieg” tactics, playing off the piscivorous super-predator ego of salmo trutta to the advantage of himself and his clients…and the chagrin of his chosen quarry.
Fishing the Caney for the past 10 years, he has learned the skills necessary to consistently target monster razorback browns. A day on the Caney Fork with Rickey will be full of big browns at the end of your line, and great stories to share with your friends, much as he has provided for his own friends for years.

Along with being a creative design representative for O’Charley’s in the “real world”, bringing an element of marketing savvy and professionalism to the team, Rickey serves as an adjunct guide to Cory Allen on the Caney Fork accommodating group trips of 3 people for a two boat trip on the river, the “Two-Boat Power-Float”, allowing a greater coverage of water and coordination between two knowledgeable and efficient anglers so that lures can be presented to the highest percentage of large fish, and your trip can be “dialed in” in no time…
…and speaking of “dialing”, if you want to book Rickey and Cory for a day to accommodate 3 anglers on the Caney, just go to the Caney Fork Trout page in the Excursions section for pricing and contact info. They both look forward to seeing you on the water with smiles on your faces and big browns in your hands.
