Bill Bird has spent most of his life, and angling career, honing his angling skills on the natural trout fisheries of the western United States…and it shows in his trout angling here. An avid student of the fly, he has taken to his new middle Tennessee abode like a “fish to water”, so to speak, and grown quite fond of both the Caney Fork and Elk Rivers, both acclaimed tailrace trout waters locally and nationally known for numbers and giant salmonids.
At the helm of his Clackacraft drift boat, he knows better than most how to position the boat in various currents to provide the best cast and presentation to a rising trout, whether it be a finicky rainbow, or a voracious trophy brown. With a full arsenal of Orvis fly tackle at his disposal, and a knowledge of the predators and their prey of the systems he fishes, Bill can tie almost any fly to “match the hatch”.
Not only a great angler, but a great guy, you’ll find no better guide, and no better friend to share a day on the water with, than Bill Bird.
