Okay, okay, okay…so it’s NOT Tennessee, but just a “stone’s throw” across the border in Kentucky lies another one of the hottest southern musky fisheries in the country, Green River Lake. Weighing in at 0ver 8,000 acres of creek arms, backwaters, and flooded timber, few reservoirs in the country provide the myriad of habitat and haunts for giant muskellunge that Green River offers. Of course, while you can never have TOO much good habitat, the virtual richness of it all can be a bit overwhelming to even the most seasoned angler.
Ah, but that’s where Stone’s Throw Adventures Musky Guide Bryan Morris comes in. Only a quarter century old, but packed with experience rarely found in anglers twice his age, Bryan’s bite is even worse than his bark, and his scrapbook proves it. Growing up 3 miles from Green River, he has pursued Kentucky muskies since he was knee-high to a cypress knob, and has garnered the respect of such notable peers in the southern musky world as Tony Grant, Gregg Thomas, and even the legendary Crash Mullins…and for good reason: this dog can hunt.
Not only an avid, knowledgeable, and tenacious musky angler, Bryan is also a published outdoor writer and radio personality, helping to spread the gospel of the tooth-and-fin to those who will listen south of the Mason-Dixon line.
Bryan runs a tight ship, as well, and stepping aboard his vessel is like stepping onto the deck of the latest Navy patrol craft: efficient, stealthy, and deadly. Utilizing the best in modern musky tackle and electronics [at least those yet available to civilians], he guides from a 2009 Tracker Pro Guide powered by a Mercury outboard and outfitted with the latest Humminbird electronics.
If that weren’t enough, Bryan also boasts sponsorship by such notable musky tackle companies as Kentucky Bluegrass Rods, Crash’s Landing Tackle Shop and Guide Service, and Russell’s Outdoor Gear, and has been prominently featured on the “Catch Ya in the Bluegrass” television show, even further legitimizing his reputation.
Though he loves nothing more than burning and bulging bucktails to agitate belligerent muskies, Bryan is well-versed in a variety of tactics in pursuing muskies on his home waters and beyond, and is very skilled at adapting to the demands of the daily bite. If there’s a musky with a hunger-pang anywhere in the lake, Bryan’s the man to find him and know exactly how to cater to his sweet-tooth.
